Silence Reigns

Well it looks like my imminent incarceration in the convent is causing much hilarity among my dear friends. Not least because I can't work out how to watch England v Portugal on Thursday night in silence.

The ordination service is giving Henry (the vicar) all sorts of headaches as St.B's don't generally go in for responses in liturgy and there are going to be loads.

I look forward to telling you how my time away was.

Dublin was great.

Help I'm a vicar get me out of here..

Spending a few days being an Anglican at the clergy conference. As I drank Pimms on a vicarage garden lawn yesterday lunchtime surrounded by dog collars, the full gravity of the situation sank in, I'm becoming a vicar. Next week it's a four day pre-ordination silent retreat, I'll never manage to be quiet for that long.

Taking Sue off to Dublin for her birthday tomorrow, which will make a nice respite from Anglicanism and Soul in the City. Looks like the big event at Alexandra Palace is going to happen in August, sources of funding have pitched up.

Click here for an audio interview with Todd Hunter about his move to Alpha, worth a listen.

Energy Returns

It was a good few days off, catching up with the family and then going to see some friends on the south coast. We visited Eagle Heights on the way down, and I took the picture below. It was awesome as these huge birds flew just over your head, and the Isaiah passage always helps me to regain a bit of focus.

He gives strength to the weary and increases the power of the weak. Even youths grow tired and weary, and young men stumble and fall; but those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint. Isa 40v29-31
